I had travelled from Lagos to Abuja on the 3rd of March 2021 on the Ibomair first flight out at 7:00am on the dot.
As usual I experienced the timely and professional boarding and in flight service, all the way to the FCT, with almost flawless execution.
The pre-packed take away packs was just the icing on the cake upon arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport.
The disembarkation was done with virtually military-like precision. I was impressed once again with the airline. I looked forward to the return flight back to Lagos in the evening of the next day.
Upon arrival at the departure counter of Ibomair for the return leg of my journey back to Lagos the next day, it was brought to my notice that I had inadvertently paid for a flight scheduled for the 11th of March instead of the 4th of March.
All efforts to get me another ticket on the flight scheduled for the evening of the 4th proved abortive as the Ibomair flight back to Lagos was fully booked.
I had no choice but to buy another ticket from another airline (decency would not permit me to name them at this point).
The flight on this alternative airline was scheduled for 8:50pm that evening. By 8:00pm we were told the flight had been delayed by 35minutes and would now be arriving by 9:25pm.
By 9:20pm we were told the flight would no longer be landing by 9:25pm but by 10:00pm.
By 10:00pm we were told it would be landing by 10:30pm.
Finally the plane arrived and after a pitifully disorganized boarding process we had a bit of a respite with a smooth flight.
Upon arrival at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport, phones were allowed to be turned on and seatbelts unfastened as the crew looked on, exhausted and overwhelmed.
The final disembarkation at the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport was done so haphazardly that the aisle was filled with people from the front to the rear end of the plane.
The difference between this airline’s services and Ibomair’s services was laid bare.
The professionalism, the extra attention to detail and the orderly manner of their operations makes Ibomair a carrier of excellent quality that I would always want to fly with.
